The AP courses I teach
AP Precalculus
Functions, trigonometry and modeling, taught so the ideas carry straight into calculus.
AP Calculus AB
Limits, derivatives and integrals, with steady practice on the free-response questions that decide the score.
AP Chemistry
Stoichiometry, equilibrium, thermodynamics and lab reasoning, built from first principles rather than memorized.
AP Physics 1 and AP Biology
Mechanics and the reasoning behind the formulas in Physics 1; the systems thinking and data analysis AP Biology asks for.

Keep up through the year, then peak in May.
September to March
Weekly lessons that follow your student's class, so each unit test goes well and nothing piles up.
March to May
Timed free-response practice and full past exams, reviewed question by question.
Before every unit test
A focused review of the topics your student finds hardest, using their own class materials.
Parents kept informed
An optional written progress report after every four sessions, compared with the starting point.
Questions first. Then answers that last.
Wonder
Begin with a real question. Curiosity is the engine, so every topic starts with why it matters.
Probe
Find the exact gap. Diagnostic questions show where understanding breaks, not just which answers were wrong.
Build
Connect each idea to the last one. Students explain the reasoning in their own words before moving on.
Prove
Apply it under test conditions. Timed practice shows what has truly stuck, and sets the next lesson.
Billed monthly, online or in person.
STEM coaching, one-to-one
Online on Google Meet. Europe from €55, UK from £50 an hour for American students abroad.
Pair lessons
Two students in the same course and level, such as classmates or friends.
Small group
Never more than three students, all in the same course.
In person, Fairfield County
Saturdays and Sundays, 9am to 12pm, at your home or a local library.
Monthly lessons are paid in advance, with a minimum of two sessions a month and 10% off for six or more. Founding families get three months of STEM coaching at $60 an hour until 7 November: see the offers. See the cancellation policy. Need financial flexibility? Apply privately for an Access Seat.
Kristen Amendola
I grew up in Connecticut, graduated from Hopkins School, and studied Economics and Mathematics at Columbia and mathematics at City College, where I was a student researcher. I am now at Harvard Extension School in computer science, moving to the joint master's in Data Science and AI.
I am a three-time Connecticut state foil champion, and I spent 17 years running New York restaurants, nine as an owner. Both taught me what I teach students: preparation beats nerves. My Connecticut Department of Education background check is on file.
AP Math and Science Tutoring Online: the details
Which AP courses do you tutor?
AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1 and AP Biology. For another AP math or science course, ask in the free consultation.
How much does AP tutoring cost?
One-to-one STEM coaching starts at $75 an hour online in the US, €55 in Europe and £50 in the UK. Pairs start at $55 and small groups at $40 an hour per student. In-person lessons in Fairfield County are $140 an hour. Lessons are billed monthly.
When should my student start AP tutoring?
Ideally in the first weeks of the course, so gaps are closed before they compound. Students who start in spring can still prepare well for the May exam with timed free-response practice.
Do you tutor American students at international schools abroad?
Yes. Lessons are online and scheduled in your time zone. The booking calendar shows every slot in your local time.
Do you also tutor IB math and science?
Yes, IB Mathematics at SL and HL and IB Chemistry and Physics at SL. See the IB tutoring page for details.
How will I know it is working?
Every student begins with a diagnostic and written goals. You can choose a written progress report after every four sessions, and parents are welcome to join any lesson.
